Summary:
Will Finch lives with his mother at the Angel Inn. One night Will is woken by footsteps outside his bedroom and sees a line of lanterns moving across the marshes towards the beach. Will follows at a distance and finds most of the Angel's regulars helping to land the cargo of a ship anchored out in the mouth of the cove. Will swears on his life to keep the smugglers' secret. Now he's caught up in a dark and treacherous world where he finally learns the truth about his father's heroic death
